About Orient Watch
Orient Watch was established in July 1950 in Tokyo as a manufacturer of wristwatches. Its predecessor dates back to 1901, when Shogoro Yoshida, the founder, opened a wholesale store of watches in Ueno, one of the commercial districts in downtown Tokyo. For more than 50 years since our foundation, we have tried to do our best to make the Orient brand disseminated throughout the world by emphasizing global marketing efforts.
Despite the increasing severity of the environment for watch manufacturers, Orient is determined to develop products that meet the needs of customers through continuous market research.
In the Japanese market, we supply high-quality watches, such as "Orient Star Royal," our prestigious mechanical watch series, which our customers want to carry with them for many years. In overseas markets, our strategy is to develop new outlets for our products mainly in countries and areas with high potential economic growth, and increase our sales of budget-price watches.
Furthermore, our micro-precision technology, cultivated through 50 years' experience in the manufacture of timepieces, has enabled us to expand the scope of our activities to other industry segments such as IT-related products including printer components, quartz oscillators, silicon wafers and other electronic devices. We intend to improve our precision technology further and to strengthen cost competitiveness, so that we will be able to increase orders for high value-added products.
In a bid to make a further step forward, we will continue our relentless efforts to make our business structure more solid and profitable in the three core business segments-watches, IT-related products and electronic devices.
